How much does Invisalign cost?

The cost for an Invisalign treatment varies according to the complexity of the teeth movement required and the length of the treatment plan.  It is best to consult with Dr. Tang in person to determine the nature of the treatment required to determine a cost estimate.

How long do I have to wear the Aligners?

Typically, the treatment process takes anywhere between 6 to 18 months.  Patients are given a series of the Invisalign aligners whereby they have to wear each set for 10 days to two weeks at a time before switching to the next set.  A complete treatment plan could consist of up to 30 sets of aligners.

Are the aligners removable?

Yes, unlike traditional braces, Invisalign aligners are removable making eating, drinking and cleaning easy and convenient.  Aligners are designed to be worn up to 22 hours a day for maximum efficacy.   They are removed only for when consuming food and when cleaning your teeth and aligners.

Are aligners easy to clean?

Yes, all you need to do is brush the inside and outside of the aligners with a toothbrush and a little toothpaste and rinse them out.  This should be done after each meal and before bedtime.

How often do I need to visit the Orthodontist?

Once the treatment plan has started, you should visit the orthodontist once every 2 months unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor to monitor the progress of the aligners.  Please notify your doctor if you are experiencing any difficulty in wearing the aligners.

Do the aligners hurt?

There may be discomfort upon first wearing the aligners which is due to the pressure exerted by the aligners to move your teeth.  This actually indicates that the aligners are indeed working with each set of aligners designed to move your teeth approximately 2mm during the 10 day period.  It should not be any more uncomfortable than traditional braces.  Because the aligners are easily removable, it is important to resist removing them for extended periods of time as this minimizes effectiveness of the aligners.  There will be minor discomfort with each set of aligners at the onset, but your teeth will quickly adjust to them being there.

Are aligners safe?

Yes, in fact aligners are in many ways better than traditional braces because they promote better oral hygiene, by allowing one to remove them for eating and cleaning.  There are no metal bands, brackets or wires to trap food, or cause discomfort.  Better oral hygiene leads to healthier gums and a reduction in plaque buildup and tooth decay.
