Crowding

                       BEFORE

                        AFTER

Crowding is usually a result of insufficient room for the normal complement of teeth. This could be caused by extra teeth, lost teeth, impacted teeth or abnormal shaped teeth.  A small underdeveloped jaw can cause tooth overcrowding.  Ill-fitting dental fillings, crowns, appliances, retainers, or braces as well as misalignment of jaw fractures after a severe injury are other causes.

Spacing

Spacing can occur as a result of teeth coming in which can leave gaps, or missing teeth, or irregular sized teeth.  It can also be caused by tongue thrusting, thumb sucking or periodontitis.  Orthodontic braces is the most commonly preferred form of treatment as it is also a more permanent solution.

Overbite

Overbites occur when the upper teeth overlap signficantly from the lower teeth.  It is usually caused by overdeveloped bone structure that support the teeth, genetics or poor bite habits.  Untreated it could lead to gum problems, irritations, uneven wear and tear on the teeth, jaw and joint problems.

Crossbite

                       BEFORE

                        AFTER

Crossbites occur when the upper and lower jaws are both misaligned.  It causes one or more of the upper teeth to bite down on the insides of the lower teeth and can happen either along the front of the teeth and/or the sides of mouth.  Crossbite can lead to gum disease, uneven wear of the teeth and bone loss.
